Zenith 9-S-262 ( 1938 )
Under Restoration!
This radio was found in a barn in Milltown, Indiana. When I
started restoring this set, the condition was terrible. Grill cloth
rotted and torn, original finish spotty and pretty much gone, no knobs
, dial glass, or speaker cover. The effects of moisture had taken its
toll over the years , the front dial plate was rusted, and the original
letters were gone. The speaker cone was so brittle the it simple
crumbled away. The chassis had been worked on several times long ago,
with many jack-legged repairs and missing parts.
As seen in the above photo, I have already replaced
the grill cloth, and cleaned up the finish. Tracking down the missing
parts for this radio has been the most challenging so far. More to come
as the work progresses.
